CPFM x Playboi Carti

CPFM x Playboi Carti both live in the same creative space — dark, unpredictable, and completely unbothered by what anyone else is doing. When the two linked up for the Whole Lotta Red capsule in December 2020, the result was exactly what you would expect from that combination.

The drop came in three pieces: two hoodies and a tee, each one built around specific tracks from Carti's album. The King Vamp tee leaned into Carti's vampire persona hard — bats, fangs, and hand-drawn gothic imagery that felt less like merch and more like cover art you could wear. The M3tamorphosis hoodie went a different direction, pairing a large butterfly graphic on the back with bold red lettering spelling out "Red Carti" — a nod to transformation, to the shift in sound and identity that defined the whole album. The butterfly detail hit differently at night: glow-in-the-dark printing made it visible in the dark, a detail most people only discovered after they got the piece home.

That is the kind of thing CPFM does. The design rewards you for paying attention. Both pieces used heavy cotton construction with an oversized fit, ribbed cuffs, and an adjustable hood. The graphic work was co-designed by Carti and Cynthia Lu, which means neither voice got diluted in the process. You feel both of them in every piece. More recently, CPFM teased a second capsule tied to Carti's I Am Music album — signaling the relationship between the two is still very much alive. These pieces are rare and move fast.
