Nobody anticipated the 2022 collaboration between streetwear brand Cactus Plant Flea Market (CPFM) and McDonald's, which led to the CPFM Box launch on October 3rd. Cynthia Lu revamped the famous Happy Meal for adults, redesigning the box in CPFM x McDonald's distinct style with Golden Arches-shaped handles and signature puff-print artwork. Each box included a choice of a Big Mac or a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets meal, along with one of four exclusive collectible figurines: Grimace, the Hamburglar, Birdie, or the new Cactus Buddy. Each character was creatively reinterpreted with CPFM's characteristic four-eyed design, as seen in their past apparel and footwear.

The merchandise from the collaboration launched simultaneously with the meal box, featuring co-branded apparel such as tees, hoodies, and sweatpants, available on CPFM. Each item showcased unique graphics and artwork related to McDonald's. Additionally, the collaboration included 19-inch plush versions of figurines, a Grimace Chair, acrylic signs, and collectible figurines sold as a set. McDonald's also offered app users a chance to win exclusive merchandise weekly throughout October 2022, enhancing the event's cultural appeal.

This collaboration matters because it sits at an intersection that rarely works and somehow worked completely. CPFM brought its design language to one of the most recognized brands on earth, making the result feel like something worth collecting rather than something disposable. The figurines still trade on resale markets. The apparel pieces from this drop carry real value in the secondhand market years after the window closed. That is the CPFM effect: taking something familiar and making people see it differently.
